Four years in electronics manufacturing, three of them running Surface Mount Technology process, Automated Optical Inspection, and flying-probe test across a full PCBA floor. I localize internal shorts on multilayer boards by current injection and hotspot tracing, own the via fill and planarization process along with the work instructions and operator training behind it, and hold 100% IPC-A-610 Class-2 compliance across every assembly operation. The Python and SQL tooling that turns machine output into floor decisions is mine too.

Process on the Floor

  1. Define

    Import and validate the BOM, classify unknown components, and get the job set up before a single board moves.

  2. Program

    Derive SMT placement XY, rotation, and board side straight from customer CAD files, then build the AOI recipe and the reflow profile.

  3. Inspect

    Run AOI against IPC-A-610 Class-2 criteria and turn the result into a defect report that actually guides rework.

  4. Test

    Flying-probe and ICT coverage, leakage hunts, and internal shorts localized by current injection and hotspot tracing.

  5. Improve

    Trend the failure modes, close them with an ECO and a work instruction, and retrain the floor on the change.

A tool only counts if the floor still reaches for it on a bad day.
